An intimate London wedding reception at the South London Gallery with cultural cues and personal elements carefully woven into every touchpoint.

Cheng & James’ reception was inspired by Cheng’s Taiwanese roots and their shared love for nature, Ikebana flower art, as well as minimal and contemporary aesthetics and graphic design.

We used film lights for the backdrop, which florist Hattie Fox dressed in a mix of European and Taiwanese foliage – a nod to both heritages and to create a little bit of excitement, in the otherwise bare venue.

Moss ‘islands’ were added to the tables and other areas, to underline the couple’s love for the natural world. As one of Cheng’s favourite colours, moments of lilac were added in contrast.

Sculptural ceramics and the cake tied in with the couple’s love of handmade objects and unexpected shapes and textures.

‘We couldn’t be happier and more proud of the day you helped create for us. We experienced a long personal journey to get there, the result was certainly the best we could have hoped for and a highlight of our lives together. We were finally able to celebrate our special day with our favourite people at our own pace.

We were so lucky to work with you – someone who can truly appreciate the beauty of simplicity but also be open-minded to all sorts of experiments and challenges.

We loved how you took inspiration from our life stories and travel memories and carefully weaved these details into our wedding-after-party. Everything on the day was presented in a subtle but such meaningful way, not to mention extremely stylish!

Thank you so much Anne, you are the best! You and the party will be remembered forever.’
