/ STORY

Morgan and Kyle’s Liverpool wedding story, fittingly, began in Liverpool – the same place where Morgan’s great-great-grandparents lived and married in 1933.

Born and raised in Nashville Tennessee, Morgan visited England a year prior to explore her family roots. It was during that trip that she knew her own wedding would take place in the very spot her great-great-grandparents once stood – this time with a full American guest list in tow.

Throughout the three-day event, the bridal party took over Knowsley Hall, giving them space to unwind around the celebrations and share the getting-ready experience for the big day.

Day one brought Morgan and Kyle’s closest friends together for a private pizza night on site, where Morgan wore a hand-painted dress adorned with poppies – a flower very close to her heart.

Day two, or ‘The Night Before’, began at the stunning Hawksmoor Liverpool, located in the iconic, Grade II–listed India Buildings, once a historic bank. Subtle design nods throughout the space highlight the city’s transatlantic ties to the United States – a detail the couple loved from the moment they stepped inside.

With the food being hearty and meat-led, and the interiors warm and characterfully mature, we kept the tablescape simple yet intentional: bespoke tonal menu cards and single-stem florals set in minimal black vases. The result was understated, elegant, and perfectly aligned with the restaurant. After the final toast was made, guests wandered over to the Municipal Hotel, where the night drew to a close with local gin and tonics and the gentle hum of live piano.

Day three – the wedding day – began with Morgan and Kyle getting ready alongside their closest ladies and gents, before making their way to the church by wonderfully old-school British transport. The church itself was kept almost entirely as it was, with just a touch of florals added to the altar and gates so as not to take away from its essence – the very place where Morgan’s ancestors said ‘I do’ almost 100 years ago.

After the ceremony, the couple and their guests returned to Knowsley Hall for the reception and after-party. Cocktail hour featured a lively jazz band, signature drinks, and plenty of ‘Georgia peaches’ – a playful nod to the couple’s life back in the U.S.

Dinner took place inside a spacious marquee, transformed into a colourful, high-contrast affair. Seemingly endless, handmade floral garlands, richly textured table arrangements, and bespoke stationery brought the space to life, creating a truly immersive atmosphere – one that has Morgan’s love of abstract art written all over.

As a little side story about the dinner stationery: like all the other pieces, it was designed by Morgan herself. Each guest name card featured a snippet of a 1933 news article mentioning Morgan’s great-great-grandfather and his business – a personal touch that connected past and present.

Once dinner concluded, guests were ushered inside Knowsley Hall for Earl’s Western World (the couple’s dog). As seasoned country and folk fans, nothing less than a high energy country band and moody lighting would do. The Powers quite literally sang their hearts out, filling the room with magnetic energy – a full-circle moment as Morgan and Kyle, from Tennessee, danced to country music in Liverpool, often referred to as ‘The Nashville of the North’.

In the adjacent State Dining Room, dating from 1820, we shifted away from the country theme, embracing the rich historical energy to serve dessert, whiskeys, and espresso martinis. The sweet treats drew inspiration from British classics and an Art Deco aesthetic with a touch of ’70s flair. The giant peach-topped cake was another full-circle moment – the final ‘Georgia peach’ of the day.

/ KIND WORDS

“Embarking on the wedding planning journey is both exhilarating and overwhelming—but working with Anné was an absolute dream. Her title and talents go far beyond “wedding planner.” She is truly an artist, a designer, and a wonderfully kind person to work with. From our very first call, I knew Anné was the only person I wanted to help bring our special day to life. It felt like finding my creative soulmate. She completely understood our vision while infusing it with her own incredible creativity and magic.

Anné and her HILDE team go above and beyond. No detail is ever too small, and rather than chasing trends, they create deeply personal, timeless, and effortlessly chic moments. As a US-based bride planning a wedding in the UK, I couldn’t have imagined an easier or more enjoyable experience. Anné’s professionalism, communication, and organization are unmatched—yet every planning call felt like catching up with a friend.

On our wedding weekend, Anné surrounded us with the most amazing and talented team who ensured everything ran perfectly smoothly. As a bride and groom, you spend so much time with your planning team on the big day, and we felt incredibly lucky and supported by such kind, thoughtful people. Her network of artists, musicians, designers, florists, and photographers are truly the best of the best—brilliantly talented and a joy to work with.

We truly can’t say enough positive things about working with Anné & HILDE.”
